"Politics is weird..and creepy" -Shep Smith

Growing up a black woman, I was a Democrat by default..no, really, I was. I honestly don't ever think I have been asked my political opinion, it has always just, pretty much, been assumed. But, as I got older, I started to realize that my faith, and personal opinions, were not necessarily aligning with "my party,"- which is where the questioning of this idea of party loyalty even began for me.
Far too often do I hear individuals voice opinions that they, themselves, don't actually believe, but stand by in the name of their political party. I've done it myself. But, over the years I have realized thinking, voting, and doing on the basis of a political party is not only dumb (dare I say), but dangerous.
What I've learned is that political issues and happenings are not black and white, nor right or left. But, instead, there is this beautiful grey, nonstandard, area that so many people ignore due to their allegiance to a specific political party- and it's sucking the individualism, objectivity, and critical thinking processes out of so many human beings.
Policy shouldn't be based on emotions alone, but, one, also, shouldn't dismiss another's experience because it doesn't align with stats and facts that, could too, be misconstrued. Right?
Where is the balance? Hopefully, here on MOTS blog- and while I am no expert, I am an American citizen, so it's only right that I play my part in the political process by, impartially, staying informed sharing my opinion, and listening to others', as well, with an open mind.
Let's make America think again...if that was ever, like, a thing, you know?
Enjoy and be on the lookout for more content coming to you soon.
