CorruptTube?
Uh, Duh.
While I am not a fan of conspiracies, when incidences such as the recent Logan Paul incident takes place, I'm on the conspiracy train... big time. This was no accident nor an overlook. The amount of censoring and demonetizing that YouTube does when a channel says something that advertisers may not be a fan of, or even from a couple of curse words, is ridiculous and immediate- but when I thought about it from YouTube's perspective, keeping the video up for as long as possible makes "perfect sense."
Quick backstory: For those who don't know, Logan Paul is one of America's most attention-seeking, grown boy, YouTube stars out at the moment- with a following of over 15 million, and videos that will make you want to throw away your whole brain if you're bored enough, or forced, to watch it. His following is primarily teenagers and children, with a sprinkle of young adults under the age of 25- which makes the video he uploaded of a man who committed suicide in Japan's "Suicide Forest," and the millions of views he received on this video, all the more deranged.
Now, I mentioned previously that YouTube didn't take the video down immediately- but,the disturbing part is, YouTube never took the video down. Logan Paul did so himself after being bashed by viewers for his apathetic and sociopath-like behavior as he laughed with his friends while standing near a dead man in the name of "suicide awareness."
I don't expect anything out of this grown boy- he has been a strange and annoying something or another that clearly did not receive enough, or too much, attention in his childhood. But, what disappoints me, is my lack of surprise when I heard that YouTube made sure to not take that video down and continue racking up the coins for every single advertisement that was played before, during, and after that horrid video.
Censorship is real- YouTube participates in that game by hitting its users where it hurts- in the pockets- when they get "out of line." I understand though, it's business. But, this specific situation is an all time low- even for them. Ask me if I believe YouTube truly cares about this "overlook"..My answer is a big, fat, and confident "nope". They are sitting on coins, and racking up even more coins from Logan Paul's forced and annoying apology video. YouTube won, a dead man is exploited for views and money, and Logan Paul is still rich and obnoxious. Should they demonetize him? I don't know. Do I believe, wholeheartedly, that this is all about money? Yes.
My heart goes out to the family of the man who took his life.
Suicide is nothing to joke about, nor profit from.
